Don’t forget! SKJ 4 ALA
Oct 7th, 2009 by Cathy Jo Nelson
Do you want to see a school library media specialist at the top of the American Library Association? Look here–see who’s in the running! Sara Kelly Johns is in the pool seeking the post of president of a massive organization, and if all the school librarians will vote, we will finally have some representation!
Why Sara?
- Experienced
- Enthusiastic
- Energy
- Life-long Learner
- 2.0 friendly
- current & relevant
- educational networking
Sara is poised to lead us all into this most exciting time in history to be a school teacher-librarian as leader of ALA. She is already drinking the 2.0 koolaide, and sharing the thirst for continued learning all around, setting a prime example to both the LMS’s already there and to those lurking from side wondering if they’ll ever figure it out.
Where have I seen Sara?
- Flickr
- An assortment of Nings (including SLJ Summit and Teacher Librarian Ning, just to name a few)
- Blogs
- Videos posted online
Sara is an example for all newbies and veteran teacher librarians. She understands enough about rss feeds, hashtags, and many more 2.0 tools to be true leader who models the walk–not just talks the talk. Be sure you are a registered member of ALA by January so you can help us bring a school library media specialist to leadership in the American Library Association.
