Let’s do the Wiki WYSIWYG
Jul 8th, 2009 by Cathy Jo Nelson
So I was asked to put together a VoiceThread on wikis. I’m not sure I’m real satisfied with the end product, and I can tell it’s been a while since I messed around with Voice Thread. Also, I don’t like VT’s (like this) that really don’t seem to encourage written or voice comments, which is the purpose of a VoiceThread, right? But I can say I did as asked. Perhaps to encourage 2 way interaction, I will ask that visitors embed links to great wikis they have used or seen, or better, tell me how to imporve this and make it more 2 way friendly.
Wysiwyg what?
Why the name “Let’s do the Wiki Wysiwyg? Because most wiki editors rely on true wysiwyg editors, meaning “what you see is what you get.” The word wysiwyg sounds much like some kind of funny dance!
Does a Pretty Wiki discourage collaboration?
I did not include a mention of Glogster either, though I know many LOVE the format. I think Glogster limits collaborative contributions in wikis, and folks unfamiliar with Glogster don’t realize it’s still a wiki even with a pretty interface via Glogster.
So anyway, if you feel inclined, leave a text or voice comment in the Vicethread (or here below.)
