So I’m a Day Late…
Mar 25th, 2009 by Cathy Jo Nelson
I just discovered this afternoon that I’m listed in Janet Clary‘s list of women considered to be role models in educational technology, and there is even a special day (the Ada Lovelace Day) where folks spotlight women they feel meet their criteria. Wow I’m stunned to make her list, especially considering some of my own favorite role models are on this list as well.
More deserving…
So to extend this conversation I want to spotlight some of my other favorite women role models leading through educational technology that also deserve
recognition:
Okay so yes, they are all school teacher librarians, media specialists, library information specialists, or some derivative of those terms, but they are all my friends, and ones I look up to and rely on all the time. They teach me, lead me, and keep me informed, and I am happy to have them in my reader. Icing on the cake — I can call them real f2f friends. Maybe someday I’ll fit into the shoes these women role models wear now.

Cathy,
I’m so proud to make your list! We met in person at NECC, and our virtual connection translated beautifully into real life.
We share resources, tips, and more than a few laughs. I’m grateful to live in a time when women from different places (and eras!) can meet and become colleagues and friends.
Glad to have you as a friend and network contact!
It is an honor to learn from you, my friend! Hoping for more f2f in the coming months. Thank you for the very kind nod.

Thank you for the shout out and congratulations for your own spotlight on Janet Clary’s list. It’s well deserved. I’m learning from you all the time. However, I’m kind of embarrassed to have folks over to my blog as I’ve been “absent” lately. ERT will be over tomorrow (for this year) and I can get back to my real life and blogging more frequently.
Hi Cathy Jo,
Well deserved recognition for your contributions to education and librarianship.
And I can say, “I knew her when….”
Doug
Thanks Doug, Heather, and Joyce!
Cathy,
Wow! You go, girl! You have always been a role model to me – my mentor as I have been on this journey – so I love that you are getting the recognition of others!
Thanks for the compliment – I am very honored. And also embarrassed, like Heather, that I haven’t been blogging! My last paper is due April 30th, graduation is May 8th – my blog won’t have to be on the orbiting status anymore.
Cathy,
How nice to be included in such an illustrious list
And congratulations to you–you’ve been such a wonderful leader (and sharer)!
Thanks again
Looking forward to more work together both virtual and for real
