Grocery Store Feet — You deserve a DABA Award
Nov 3rd, 2008 by Cathy Jo Nelson
Scott McLeod almost a year ago made an award we could nominate bloggers for, and he called it the DABA Award. I hereby nominate Grocery Store Feet for a DABA. This kind of goes hand in hand with the 30 Days to Being a Better Blogger Campaign that Steve Dembo is sponsoring too. Yesterday I was pleasantly alerted to the fact (thanks to the alerts by Google I subscribe to) that I was called by name in this new blogger’s post. Shannon Dean Wham is “Grocery Store Feet” and he is quite talented with the gift of story telling–the kind for adults who really need to think or be reminded of the way it is or should be. He writes about NCLB, testing madness, and what it’s like to be a school librarian in a poor school. Much of what he says resonates in me, and I find myself sharing each post with someone. Shannon tells me sometimes how I am an inspiration to him, so this award I present is also a public “thanks” for letting me bring you a bigger audience, I’ve said all along you “deserve a bigger audience.” (Steve, I am also writing my thank you note, per directions of 30DBBB.)

Did I miss the link to the blog? It appears you haven’t linked to Grocery Store Feet at all. Did I overlook it?

Cathy,
I SO agree with you on this! Shannon has a gift – his voice clearly comes through in his posts and they always resonate with me, too. Part of it is being Southern, part of it is being a LMS, and part of it is my love of reading – Shannon is an outstanding storyteller!
