Moving Day
Aug 1st, 2008 by Cathy Jo Nelson
I have moved my blog to my own domain now (here). Growing pains will commence I’m sure, starting with my header that seems off kilter a little. I’ll work on that soon enough. Must figure out what else is slightly off. The new blog is located here and will look the same for a while, until I get settled and comfy. Thank you Edublogs for giving me a great start. I will forever recommend Edublogs for friends and colleagues asking for a place to start. A SPECIAL thank you to Chris Craft, my mentor in the blogosphere, who is holding my hand through the change. As you visit please consider wearing a hard hat. Who knows what will fall?
Update your feeds.

Cathy,
Congrats on the move and welcome to your new home! Hmm…a virtual housewarming gift?
I’ve tagged you for the Worst Job Meme. Hope you have time to do this because I’d love to find out what your worst job was. The rules are here: http://successfulteaching.blogspot.com/2008/08/worst-job-meme.html
Congrats on the move!!!
I’ll have to enjoy your warm and friendly personality here until we meet again in Real Life.
Once again, you’ve decided to experiment, change, grow.
Congratulations!
Hi Cathy,
Are you suggesting that Blogger is not the best host for a blog? I can recall you suggesting such earlier when you visited my website regarding comments and feeds?
Best wishes on your new site.
Paul
@Paul–Thanks for commenting. Let me clarify my feelings on blogger. I began there. I moved away for the single reason that my school was going to block it. I then found that blogger did not offer a comments feed, and so decided I didn’t like it for that reason. In recent weeks, I noticed that Blogger has added a comments feed to the feed for posts, enabling bloggers who use an aggregator to subscribe to posts AND comments. So i can relax on my stance about previously disliking Blogger. I still have some issues with them (like the ever popular “Next Blog” line that runs across the top–even though if a user knows a little code that can be removed–but is not easily done with an option like most other blogger elements). But I will no longer steer new bloggers away from the program. That is my feelings on blogger today. They have made some adjustments that I am fairly pleased with, mainly the comments feed.
I’ve been contemplating moving myself. What do you feel the pros and cons are? What provider did you end up choosing? Are you using WordPress? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out if it is time for me to stand out on my own as well.
