Our School’s Library Snapshot Day Quotes
Apr 10th, 2011 by Cathy Jo Nelson
I did my Snapshot Day last Thursday, April 7th, 2011. I wanted to share some of the comments, quotes, and anecdotes we were taken from our student survey. I’m also including two quotes from faculty and staff:

“I love the way we work together and that you can help my kids accomplish the task at hand. It’s like having a co-teacher every time I come in here. Today was a great example. I was called away at the last minute, but because you and I had planned together, you were able to have my class in the library, and I didn’t have to ask anyone to cover for me. The kids were able to make progress on their projects and did not miss a beat, even though I was physically not in the room. Thanks for all you do.” Miss Laura-Ann Jacobs, 11CP English Teacher, Dorman High School

“Our library program breathes knowledge into our school. It is a relaxing place where kids can come to read, find recreation, be social, and all this happens in tandem with learning. It’s a popular gathering place, a place where kids can come together for learning or just hanging out. Our librarians are always welcoming and infuse our school with their knowledge of technology. They teach students and teachers both! They are willing to help all the time and are so creative. I am amazed at the neat activities they plan to generate student and faculty interest. It’s a very vibrant program.” Miss Tiffany Pitcher, Dorman High School CDF Counselor/Head Softball Coach
“Our library gives us a quiet, peaceful place to escape from the morning rush at school. It’s awesome.” Sebastion Z., 11th grade, Dorman High School
“Our library is important to me because not only is it a place where I can study or get research done, it also has the books I like to check out. If I want a book the library doesn’t have, I can just tell them and they’ll get it for me.” Mati M., 10th grade
“Our library lets us come and work together on projects, studying, or to just hang out. I enjoy working with friends.” Jaron B., 10th grade, Dorman High School
“My school library is the closest place for me to get good books to read!” Daresha H., 12th grade, Dorman High School
“I wish all my classes were like the library at school. It’s the one place where I can study, read books, and use the computer to work on projects. Best, I have help there from friends or librarians.” Karla F., 12th grade, Dorman High School
“Our school library has many books like I enjoy (for example, manga.) Sean Y., 11th grade, Dorman High School
“The library is my safe haven at school.” Austin L., 11th grade, Dorman High School
“The library is a quiet place and a good place to come and study. Everyone is very helpful there.” Elizabeth C., 12th grade, Dorman High School
“One of the librarians saved my paper today. It would not open from my flashdrive, and she realized right away it had been done using a different program. She was able to get it open so I could just fix things like margins, paragraph breaks, and some crazy code that showed up. That paper was due today! She saved me.” Marcus B., 12th grade, Dorman High School
