SCYABA Nominee 11-12: Hold Still
Apr 4th, 2011 by Cathy Jo Nelson
Hold Still by Nina LaCour
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The story is a touching one where we get to walk through the grieving process with Caitlin as she explores her feelings of losing her best friend in a shocking manner. Surprisingly, we get to know who Ingrid is despite her suicide having already passed as this story begins. Traumatic for many who knew her, including her parents, Caitlin’s parents, friends and acquaintances at school, and even her favorite teacher, Nina Lacour expertly creates each character, including the deceased suicide victim.
