A Teacher’s Endurance Test –> Powerpoint
Dec 16th, 2010 by Cathy Jo Nelson
Just saw this over at Stephen’s Lighthouse, and wanted to bring it over here too. I can’t tell you how many really bad powerpoints I’ve sat through, not just at professional level presentations, but for students presentations too. With a new semester upon us, I am hoping more of my school’s teachers will let me do my lesson on powerpoint. I already have one that I use, but I really like this one too.
It’s such a test of endurance to sit through so many bad powerpoints. If I had the nerve, I’d share some of them here. But that would really be stepping on some toes, and I sorta want to keep my job and maintain a few friendships.
I also want to show them (students and teachers) there are other visual presentation tools that can be used INSTEAD of any powerpoint like tool.

It’s so common, there’s a name for it: Death by Powerpoint (aka Hypnotizing Chickens). Very interesting story, beginning here:

Be sure to read the quote, “If we ever had a war,….”
