If only they could have used “facebook”

A social studies teacher and we in the library sat down to come up with an interesting way to get the kids to learn of the notable figures of the Civil War era. We came up with the idea that groups would research figures and create a “Facebook” page on a poster board–yes, we went low tech.
While research took place online and in class, we decided to not use an online portal to display the work, but instead have them make a poster. I didn’t feel like asking the “facebook” folks for permission to model an online project after that site, and we are still trying to get kids to use more copyright friendly images.
I thought the 21 posters turned in (from groups of four) turned out nice. We are displaying them in the library.
