This is what 21st Century Learning looks like
Feb 17th, 2010 by Cathy Nelson
There is room for improvement (like the mentioned powerpoint that closely resembles a KMN –”kill me now” bullet ridden presentation-lots of text but progress noted minus the bullets.) But it is exciting to hear a student who is using so many tools, and able to show and tell how she is managing her learning and utilizing today’s tools for success.
Special thanks goes to David Bell, Media Coordinator for Horry County Schools (Myrtle Beach, SC) for sharing this with my network!!

She did an amazing job. This video should be required viewing at faculty meetings and during PD days – teachers need to understand WHAT types of tools are available and HOW they can be used in an educational setting.
What grade level is this student?
Thanks for sharing!!!
Wow.

Hi everyone!
For those who may not know, this video is the work of a 7th grade student. Wendy Drexler, who is a phenomenal educator and doctoral candidate, facilitated the growth of this student and others in spite of some rather daunting technology challenges. You can read Wendy’s blog at http://teachweb2.blogspot.com/. She, along with Dr. Michael Wesch, totally inspired my Media 21 project. Wendy could join our ranks in library world any day in my book!
If I recall correctly from a Skype session I had with Wendy late last fall/early winter, I believe the students had to use this particular tool/interface for a variety of reasons. Very impressive for a 7th grader, in my book! Read more about it here: http://teachweb2.blogspot.com/2010/01/personal-learning-environments-student.html. She is also on Twitter at http://twitter.com/wendyDrexler—definitely follow worthy!
