iPad: the next best thing?

So, who wants one??
Will this replace the textbook as we know it? I’m not sure the “iPad” can do it. In my experience, nothing Apple or MAc has been reasonably priced to be used in Education–at least here in the Southeast. But I can hope.
I still think Netbooks will replace textbooks soon, and my guess is four years. We’ll see.

Looks fun, but I don’t want one. Maybe Generation 3, when it can handle Flash, has a camera and can run more than one app at a time. Maybe.
Yes, it is probably too early to say this iPad will replace anything. However, your comment that nothing that Apple has produced is reasonably priced to use in education is surprising, to say the least. Apple computers have continued to outlast their PC counterparts and provide a much better return on investment (ROI) and a lower cost of ownership. Also, they are much easier to reimage and do not get viruses — which makes them very cheap to operate. Of course, my district is now going all PC and the “easy” and “inexpensive” days of Apple are going bye-bye.
Troy, yes while these statements are true (as I work on a now 3yo Macbook pro) it is not something to easily convince the powers that be in my area of this cost analysis. I didnt mean to sound so harsh about Mac’s pricing, as I love this laptop and both my ipod and ipod touch. Saying that, I stand corrected. Thanks for visiting.
No flash is a deal-breaker…
Speaking of no flash, here’s some juicy stuff on that topic: http://www.pcworld.com/article/188185/apples_ipad_and_the_flash_clash.html
