Stick Man by Julia Donaldson. (2009) “Stick Man lives in the family tree with lovely stick wife and his stick children three.” Adorable rhyming couplets and bright, colorful illustrations tell the story of Stick Man who is lost, but with the help of Stuck Man (aka Santa in the chimney) gets home in time for Christmas.

The books’ plots kept them sitting on the edge of their seats! David Shannon’s Christmas Extravaganza (a neighborly contest of one-upmanship in decorating for the holidays) was always hysterical and fun too. Funny, these three were snagged on a discount table at a bookstore.

I am no longer working in a library but have a 4 year old at home. I love the Auntie Claus books – didn’t realize there was a third – and also ordered a few of your recommendations to read over the holidays and keep in the Christmas box. I also ordered Winter’s Tale and The Night Before Christmas in pop-up since my guy loves pop-up books. I would imagine the kids would like them too but they probably couldn’t circulate.
