Cathy,
Still chuckling over this post because it so much mirrors conversations in my own library!

I like your idea of doing the student workshops-we have talked about that as well, and this inspires me to get started.

Another topic I might do--slideshare. Since so many students have issues with emailing ppt. files, that might be a good one to add.

Thanks for the laugh!

Cathy,
Excellent ideas! I especially like that you are considering having a student teach, or co-teach, the sessions. Students will not only love helping one another, but they will bring their friends in to assure you a ready audience.
Although it may take longer to cover all your topics, I think three mornings minimum should be devoted to most of the topics. That way students not only listen and see what they need to do to ensure success with these tools, but they could get hands-on practice with it.
Some topics will lend themselves into being broken into subtopics - like the alternatives to PowerPoint.
And this may be a backdoor into getting your teachers on board with attending some optional sessions, too: students will share what they have learned and the enthusiasm will spread.
Perhaps once the new semester is under way in January I may try one of these topics with our students before school, too.
